Ademi Adetoun

"Ademi Adetoun" is a poem that literary tell tales of a wailing child who lost his play mate to what he later realized to be death. Although, it's difficult to accept the fact that his beloved friend is gone, he still seek peaceful voyage for the said friend and end to all his friend's suffering.

Ademi the sun just went down
Won't you come out and play with me?
Ademi if you won't reply, just tell me.
What your take? my heart or my pound.
You've never rejected my calls
Why would you do so now?


Ademi the moon is up
Won't you still play Ekunmeran with me?
Shade has been a great companion to me.
She wants you out in the wood usurp
Ademi don't leave me in this cold night.
Shade is barking my name now!


Ademi see even Bunmi is here
She is barking and biting each of her fingers
Gnashing her teeth as the dam in her eyes crumbled down releasing all the flood it has been withholding.


Osupa won't visit our land with brilliancy anymore
And you know Police and Thief is best enjoyed
When he is here!
Ademi won't you heed my cry?
Mama says you won't, why won't you!!!

So Ademi,
you give that cold-blooded being your soul
He can't just take you away.
You promise me we'll tread Maami and Palm groove.
March had just packed up her luggage to allow us  fool one another in April.
When will that day come now that you are gone?

Should I replace you with your pictures?
They are just as static as those wooden crafts
May I rely on previous memories
They will soon vanish as time ticks without us renewing them!!!

Now I am drowning in the river that burst forth from my socket yet the only response from you is that smile plastered on your cheek.

Off you Go
Off you journey on without me
Off you leave me go, swaying and skipping
Off you are gone merging with the wind.

When finally you reach home
Remember to lock your doors on miserable times
And feed more on pleasant moments
So you won't grow skinny again.
